IN HB1010

Establishes the Juvenile Justice Evaluation Commission to evaluate Indiana's juvenile justice laws and make recommendations to the general assembly for modifications if necessary.

Commission consists of 22 members including 4 legislative members (2 senate, 2 house), 8 appointed officials (correction commissioner, child services director, supreme court chief justice, and others), and 10 members appointed by the governor and chief justice representing judges, nonprofits, probation officers, and educators.

Legislative council chair appoints a legislative member to serve as commission chair; members serve 2-year terms and receive per diem and travel allowances consistent with interim study committees.

Commission must submit a final report to the legislative council by November 1, 2015, and may study additional topics assigned by the legislative council or commission chair.

Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and Legislative Services Agency provide staff support; commission operates under legislative council rules; chapter expires December 31, 2015.
