HEA 1035 Summary

• Adds IC 5-28-6-8 to require a corporation to conduct an in-depth assessment of Indiana's regional metropolitan areas ("regional cities") to determine economic potential and development opportunities.

• Assessment must analyze economic potential, needs of each regional city, potential of various initiatives and improvements for economic growth, and successful and unsuccessful regional development attempts within and outside Indiana.

• Corporation staff must submit a report to the board before October 1, 2014 containing assessment findings, recommendations for addressing regional city needs and quality of life improvements, and financing options combining public and private investment from financial institutions, private enterprise, local government, and state government.

• Emergency clause declared for this act, making it effective upon passage.
