Employees who have worked at least 6 months for an employer and average 80% of full-time hours are entitled to 24 hours of paid personal leave per 12-month period.

Employees are also entitled to 16 hours of unpaid personal leave per 12-month period in addition to paid leave.

Employers may require 7 days written notice for foreseeable leave; paid leave cannot be used in increments less than 4 hours and unpaid leave cannot be used in increments less than 1 hour.

Bill applies to employers with at least 10 employees for 20 or more calendar weeks in the current or preceding year, including the state, corporations, nonprofits, partnerships, and municipal corporations.

The Indiana Commissioner of Labor must adopt rules to implement and enforce this chapter; employers must post employee rights notices in a form approved by the commissioner.
