HB 1092 Summary

• Removes provisions allowing law enforcement agencies or animal owners to receive compensation from the violent crime victims compensation fund for law enforcement animals that are permanently disabled or killed.

• Eliminates the specific category of eligible claimants for law enforcement animal injuries/deaths resulting from crimes involving cruelty to law enforcement animals under IC 35-46-3-11.

• Deletes the compensation provision authorizing payment for the cost of replacing a law enforcement animal, including training costs.

• Makes conforming amendments to investigation and eligibility verification sections to remove references to law enforcement animal compensation claims.

• Effective date: July 1, 2014.
