• School corporations must conduct at least 180 student instructional days per school year, with one half-day designated for school safety training once every three years.

• Elementary schools dismiss students for 2 hours and 30 minutes, and high schools for 3 hours, during which faculty and staff participate in a simulated attack training session.

• Faculty and staff must participate in training sessions with local law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders to simulate and respond to an attack on the school.

• The school safety specialist for each corporation shall cooperate with local law enforcement personnel to plan the training session.

• School superintendents must certify to the department which schools within their corporation participated in the required training session and the total number of instructional days conducted.
