HB 1200 Summary

• Establishes state policy to conserve, protect, and encourage agriculture, agricultural businesses, and agricultural land for production of food, fuel, fiber, and other agricultural products.

• Declares that Indiana Code shall protect farmers' rights to choose among all generally accepted farming and livestock production practices, including continuously changing technology.

• Prohibits any law from being construed to prohibit or impair traditional or modern farming and livestock production practices.

• Amends animal control and regulation purposes to include disease prevention, animal health protection, fraud prevention in animal marketing, garbage sanitation for swine feed, carcass disposal regulation, and livestock auction market sanitation.

• Effective July 1, 2014.
