HB 1223 - Personal Identification Cards

• Bureau of motor vehicles shall issue personal identification cards without photographs for applicants with sincerely held religious beliefs against photography, requiring clergy verification.

• Fee for issuance, renewal, amendment, or replacement of personal identification cards is $6.

• Permittees charged with unlawfully furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors may offer defense using purchaser's written age statement plus two forms of ID, one of which may be a personal identification card without a photograph.

• Personal identification cards must contain full legal name, date of birth, address, physical description, signature, and age markers for holders under 21, but may not be used to identify card holders as motor vehicle operators.

• Effective July 1, 2014; makes technical corrections and corresponding changes throughout Indiana Code related to identification cards.
