HB 1316 Summary

• Requires the state department of health to inspect abortion clinics at least one time per calendar year, effective July 1, 2014

• Voids the administrative rule 410 IAC 26-17-2(f) that exempted abortion clinics operating before July 1, 2006, from physical plant specifications requirements

• Eliminates the provision allowing a physician to perform an abortion through an agreement with another physician who has hospital admitting privileges; requires the performing physician to have direct admitting privileges at a hospital in the county where abortions are provided or in a contiguous county

• Requires physicians performing abortions to notify patients of the hospital location where the physician has admitting privileges and where patients may receive follow-up care if complications arise
