Department of Education shall pay certification fees for up to 2,000 teachers annually who participate in National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification program, with fees paid on a first-come, first-served basis by application filing date.

Necessary amounts to pay certification fees are annually appropriated from the state general fund.

School corporations receive a $5,000 national board certification incentive grant for each classroom teacher employed who holds valid certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

Grant funds received by school corporations shall be deposited in their general fund and may be used for any general fund purpose.

Effective date is July 1, 2014.
