HB 1419 Summary

• Repeals IC 5-16-7, the common construction wage statute, effective July 1, 2014

• Applies the repealed common construction wage requirements only to public works contracts awarded before July 1, 2014, which remain enforceable as if the statute had not been repealed

• Removes common construction wage requirements from multiple statutes including design-build contracts, BOT agreements, operating agreements, and utility efficiency programs

• Eliminates criminal penalties under IC 35-44.2-3-4 and IC 35-44.2-3-5 related to wage scale violations and unlawful project division

• Makes conforming amendments across 23 Indiana Code sections to remove references to the common construction wage statute
