• Memorializes and honors the life of Representative Phyllis Pond, who served 35 years in the Indiana House of Representatives and was the longest serving female state representative in Indiana history.

• Recognizes Pond as the first female lawmaker to earn a front row seat in the House Chamber, authored the Primetime Education Bill capping kindergarten through third grade classroom sizes at 18, and established programs for marriage mediation and the Indiana Conference for Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) program.

• Notes Pond's service on the Committee on Judiciary for many years as one of few non-attorney members and on the Committee on Ways and Means for 23 years, along with her 37-year career as a kindergarten teacher before joining the legislature.
