Providence High School girls volleyball team won their first state championship by defeating Bishop Noll High School 25-18, 25-15, 25-20 at Worthen Arena at Ball State University

Team finished with a 36-4 record and appeared in the state championship game for the seventh time, returning after being runner-up in the previous year's championship

After their fourth loss on September 25, the Pioneers defeated their final 17 opponents without a loss (44-0 record)

Head Coach Terri Purichia, a Providence alumna, has guided the team to Indiana High School Athletic Association state finals five times during her tenure

The Indiana General Assembly congratulates the team on their state championship title and directs the Principal Clerk of the House to transmit a copy of the resolution to team members, coaches, athletic director Mickey A. Golembeski, Principal Dr. Mindy Ernstberger, and President Joan Hurley
