Taught 5th and 6th grade at Long Beach Elementary School for 23 years and coached multiple sports programs

Later served as Chairman of the Education and Labor Relations Board under Governor Frank O'Bannon and as Director of Legislative and Political Affairs with the Indiana Health Care Association
