Indiana General Assembly urges Governor Pence to contact the Illinois governor to reestablish an earned income reciprocal agreement between the states.

Indiana and Illinois terminated their reciprocal agreement effective January 1, 1998, which had allowed residents of each state to work in the neighboring state while paying income taxes only to their state of residency.

Currently, Indiana residents working in Illinois must pay Illinois income tax on compensation earned there, in addition to Indiana income tax with a credit for taxes paid to Illinois.

Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives must transmit a copy of this resolution to Governor Mike Pence and Illinois Governor Pat Quinn.
