Indiana House of Representatives recognizes Carey Services, Inc., for 60 years of dedicated service to individuals with disabilities, low-income families, and others in five counties.

Carey Services originated in 1954 as Pleasant Day School in Grant County, Indiana, founded by parents and community leaders seeking quality educational and support services for children with disabilities.

Organization pioneered multiple disability service innovations in Indiana including the First Steps early intervention program, workforce training for Direct Support Professionals with Ivy Tech Community College, and supported living services.

Carey Services supports more than 1,500 individuals and families annually through diverse programs including competitive and sheltered employment, Early Head Start services since 1999, welfare-to-work services, transportation, affordable housing, and health services.

Organization operates docu-SHIELD document destruction service and manufactures bird feeders through Mitchell Marketing partnership sold in major retail chains including Walmart, with more than 330 employees providing services.
