Senate Enrolled Act No. 19 Summary

• Amends Indiana Code provisions governing access to juvenile court records, effective July 1, 2014.

• Excludes records involving adults charged with crimes, pregnant minors seeking abortion consent waivers, and proceedings concerning paternity, custody, parenting time, or child support for unmarried parents from general access provisions.

• Specifies that legal records subject to access restrictions include chronological case summaries, index entries or summaries, summonses, warrants, petitions, orders, motions, and decrees.

• Makes identical amendments to two separate sections of the Indiana Code (IC 31-39-1-1 and IC 31-39-2-1) regarding juvenile court record confidentiality.
