SB 21 Summary

• Amends IC 33-33-82-3 to increase the number of full-time magistrates the Vanderburgh circuit court judge may appoint from one (1) to two (2).

• Magistrates are appointed under IC 33-23-5 and continue in office until removed by the judge.

• Effective date is July 1, 2014.

• Senate Judiciary Committee recommended passage with a vote of 6-0 on January 9, 2014, and reassigned the bill to the Committee on Appropriations.
