Senate Bill 155 Summary

• Requires circuit court and city/town court clerks to collect a $2 court security fee in each action where a person pays a criminal costs fee or civil costs fee.

• Clerks must distribute 100% of collected court security fees to the auditor of state, who transfers them semiannually to counties in equal distribution.

• Establishes a court security fund in each county administered by the county auditor to pay for installing, operating, maintaining, and upgrading security measures, plans, procedures, and systems in courtrooms and courthouse buildings.

• Administration expenses of the court security fund are paid from money in the fund itself.

• Effective July 1, 2014, with necessary transfers appropriated from the state general fund.
