Adds new section IC 25-1-9-22 requiring individuals seeking licensure from a health care board to complete cultural competency training before license issuance.

Excludes the Indiana board of veterinary medical examiners from the requirement.

Training must include awareness of cultural differences and their effect on patients, knowledge of cultural groups in the profession, skills to modify behavior to improve patient understanding and accommodate cultural requirements, and ability to advocate for patient support.

Requirement applies only to new licenses issued after June 30, 2014.

Effective date is July 1, 2014.
