Senate Bill 213 Summary

• Allows a county legislative body and public transportation corporation to expand the corporation's taxing district to include the entire county by adopting substantially identical ordinances before June 1.

• Expansion of the taxing district becomes effective July 1 of the calendar year in which the ordinances are adopted.

• The corporation's general fund property tax levy for the first year the taxing district includes the entire county may not increase by more than 50% of the previous year's levy.

• County fiscal body must approve the proposed levy increase for the first year the taxing district includes the entire county.

• Two additional county residents must be appointed to the corporation's board of directors, with one appointed by the county executive and one by the county fiscal body, representing different political parties.
