Senate Enrolled Act No. 291 Summary

• Grants the Indiana Attorney General authority to access and maintain information regarding human trafficking violations under IC 35-42-3.5-1, with the same authority as law enforcement agencies.

• Authorizes the Attorney General to assist with investigation and prosecution of alleged human trafficking violations.

• Prohibits the Attorney General from exercising arrest power or criminal prosecution authority for human trafficking violations.

• Expands the definition of "law enforcement agency" for purposes of receiving human trafficking information to include the Attorney General alongside state and local agencies whose principal function is apprehending criminal offenders.
