Senate Bill 315 Summary

• Increases Indiana's state minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.50 per hour, effective July 1, 2014.

• Further increases the minimum wage to $10.00 per hour, effective July 1, 2015.

• Applies to employers with at least 2 employees during a work week, with exceptions for those already subject to federal Fair Labor Standards Act minimum wage provisions.

• Adds new section 14 to Indiana Code establishing that when state minimum wage exceeds the federal minimum wage, employers must pay the higher state rate.
