Senate Bill No. 324 Summary

• Prohibits disposal or incineration of items consisting entirely or primarily of paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum, or plastic in final disposal facilities (landfills, incinerators, and waste-to-energy facilities).

• Amends IC 13-11-2-82 to define "final disposal facility" as landfills, incinerators, and waste-to-energy facilities, but excludes transfer stations from this definition.

• Adds new Chapter 9.2 to IC 13-20-9.2 establishing the ban on recyclable material disposal.

• Authorizes the environmental rules board to adopt implementing rules under IC 4-22-2 and IC 13-14-9.

• Effective date: July 1, 2014.
