Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 11 Summary

• Urges the Indiana Department of Transportation to dedicate the State Road 35 overpass just south of US 30 in Hamlet to Frank Harry Ono in his honor.

• Recognizes Frank Harry Ono as a second-generation Japanese-American who served in the United States Army from September 2, 1943 to August 23, 1945 as a Private First Class in the all-Nisei 442nd Regimental Combat Team.

• Honors Ono's heroic actions during a July 4, 1944 battle near Castellina, Italy, where he defended his position against enemy counter-attack, aided wounded comrades, and covered his unit's retreat while under intense hostile fire.

• Notes that Ono received the Distinguished Service Cross for his heroism and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President Bill Clinton on June 21, 2000.

• Directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit copies of the resolution to the Indiana Department of Transportation and members of Ono's family.
