Clayton Christian Church was founded on December 7, 1863 by Pastor Thomas Lockhart and 63 charter members in Clayton, Indiana, with the building constructed at a cost of $2,600 and land purchased for $1

Pastor Lockhart established churches in Brownsburg, Clayton, Danville, Pittsboro, and Stilesville in Hendricks County, Indiana and led thousands to Christ

The church currently employs two full-time pastors, a three-quarters-time director of music and arts, a part-time ministry assistant, and a part-time custodian, and provides $40,000 annually to missions outreach

In 2001, the church built and moved into a 13,800 square foot facility as phase one of a master plan for expansion with minimal debt

The Indiana General Assembly honors Clayton Christian Church on the occasion of its 150th anniversary and directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit copies of the resolution to Gary Black, Lead Pastor
