The Indiana Senate congratulates the Brown County Junior High School "We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution" teams for their achievements in the national competition.

The 2012-2013 team won the National Invitational competition on May 6, 2013, and the team secured the state championship title for the fourth consecutive year on December 17, 2013, defeating 11 other schools.

The team will represent Indiana at the second annual "We the People" Middle School National Invitational at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia on April 4-8, 2014.

The "We the People" program, developed by the Center for Civic Education and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, involves students in grades 4-12 learning about U.S. history, constitutional principles, and democratic government through simulated congressional hearings and competitions.

The Senate directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit copies of this resolution to the 2012-2013 team members (23 students), 2013-2014 team members (24 students), and coach Michael Potts.
