Indiana Senate recognizes the valuable contributions of Indiana libraries to the state.

Indiana libraries empower individuals of all ages and education levels by providing access to resources for skill development, employment assistance, retirement planning, and literacy support through story times, summer reading programs, and tutoring.

Libraries strengthen families and communities by serving as welcoming places for people to learn, grow together, discuss issues of common concern, and access collections and meeting spaces regardless of income level, ethnicity, or physical ability.

Indiana libraries defend freedom of information and the right to read, seek information, and speak freely, while preserving the nation's cultural heritage through collecting, digitizing, and preserving historical documents.

The Secretary of the Senate shall transmit copies of this resolution to Susan Akers, Executive Director of the Indiana Library Federation.
