House Bill 1151 Summary

• Amends Indiana Code IC 22-2-2 to expand the definition of "compensable hours of work" to include all time employees spend on duty at the employer's premises or prescribed workplace, plus all time the employer permits them to work.

• Requires employers to pay employees for time spent immediately before or after work shifts performing activities that are integral and indispensable to principal job duties or required as a condition of employment, including examples such as donning and doffing personal protective equipment and security screening.

• Applies to all employers subject to Indiana's minimum wage law who employ two or more employees during a work week.

• Effective July 1, 2015.
