• Recognizes Indiana's hardwood industry and its economic impact on the state's economy.

• Indiana has over 4.7 million acres of forest land (20 percent of the state's land base), with forest acreage increasing by more than 40,000 acres since 1998.

• The hardwood industry employs over 35,000 people directly, with an additional 86,000 jobs generated in supporting economic sectors, and generated $16.6 billion in annual economic impact in 2010.

• Indiana's forests are certified as sustainable by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and the state is a leading producer of wood office furniture, manufactured homes, wood cabinets, wooden caskets and coffins, and hardwood plywood products.

• Directs the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives to transmit copies of the resolution to the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen's Association.
