Bugles Across America was founded in 2000 following P.L. 106-65, which established that every qualified veteran has a right to military funeral honors including flag folding and a sounding of "Taps"

The organization was created by Tom Daly to provide live buglers for military funerals, addressing a shortage of available military buglers by offering an alternative to recorded "Taps"

Bugles Across America consists of active military members, veterans, and civilians of all ages, races, and creeds, including both professional musicians and capable amateurs who must audition by performing "Taps" before being placed on the active bugler list

Over 13 years, Bugles Across America has provided "Taps" for over 100,000 funeral missions and members have collectively donated over one million hours of volunteer time to veterans and their families

The Indiana General Assembly commends Bugles Across America members for their dedicated service to fallen veterans and their families, with the Principal Clerk directed to transmit a copy of the resolution to Tom Daly
