Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation received the 2014 National Gold Medal Award for Class III (Population 75,001 to 150,000) from the National Recreation and Park Association on October 14, 2014.

Award was presented by a panel of five judges recognizing the agency's strong community support, outstanding amenities, innovative staff, and entrepreneurial approach to managing public services.

Carmel Clay is one of only four Indiana parks and recreation systems to win the National Gold Medal Award since its inception in 1965, joining Fort Wayne (1980), Columbus (1995), and Bloomington (2007).

The agency also received Agency Accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies, making it one of only 140 currently accredited parks and recreation agencies in the United States.

The Indiana House of Representatives congratulates Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation and urges continued excellence in serving its community, with the resolution to be transmitted to Park Board President James Engledow, Director Mark Westermeier, and Chief Operating Officer Michael Klitzing.
