• Indiana Landmarks' African American Landmarks Committee and the Indiana Historical Society have worked to preserve significant African American sites and document early African American settlers in the state.

• The Indiana African American Heritage Trail, founded in 2004 by Maxine F. Brown, marks historic sites across Southern Indiana counties (Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Gibson, and Orange) with plans to expand to all 92 counties.

• The resolution promotes cultural heritage tourism and acknowledges that black entrepreneurs can contribute to understanding Indiana's African American history through tourism-related businesses.
