SB 31 Summary

• Urges the legislative council to assign study of the U.S. 31 transportation corridor between St. Joseph County and Marion County to an appropriate interim study committee.

• Directs the study committee to examine the current development status, future freeway development plans, required studies and costs (including environmental impact statements), and necessary rights-of-way acquisition for the corridor.

• Requires any assigned study committee to complete the study and report findings and recommendations to the legislative council before November 1, 2015.

• Takes effect upon passage and expires December 31, 2015.

• Declares an emergency for the act.
