SB 332 Summary

• Amends Indiana Code IC 22-2 to allow wage assignments for purchase of merchandise, goods, or food offered by an employer and sold to employees at written request of the employee.

• Requires wage assignments to be in writing, signed by the employee personally, revocable at any time upon written notice, and agreed to in writing by the employer.

• Mandates executed copies of the assignment be delivered to the employer within 10 days after execution.

• Adds goods and food purchases to the list of 12 previously allowed wage assignment purposes, including insurance premiums, charitable contributions, stock purchases, and loan repayment.

• Effective date July 1, 2015; passed Senate Committee on Pensions & Labor with 9-0 vote.
