Legislative Description

Student athletes and head injuries. Provides that the law concerning concussions and head injuries applies to student athletes in grades 5 through 12 who participate in interscholastic or intramural sports. (Current law provides that the law concerning concussions and head injuries applies to high school student athletes.) Requires beginning July 1, 2016: (1) all coaches and assistant coaches of student athletes of specified sports; and (2) assistant football coaches of student athletes who are less than 20 years old; to complete certain certified coaching education courses.
