Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) opened its doors on September 17, 1964, combining two Fort Wayne extension operations from Indiana University and Purdue University.

IPFW serves approximately 10,000 degree-seeking students and offers over 200 academic programs, including 12 associate degrees, 82 bachelor's degrees, and 37 master's degrees.

The institution has provided increased higher education access through affordable tuition, scholarship programs, and distance learning opportunities.

IPFW has more than 55,000 alumni across the globe and has achieved national recognition for civic and community engagement, including a Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement.

The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the 50th Anniversary celebration of IPFW's founding and directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit copies of this resolution to Chancellor Vicky Carwein and her administration.
