Ernest "Ernie" Yelton has served as Executive Director of the Indiana Gaming Commission since his appointment in 2005, overseeing licensing and regulatory oversight of thirteen Indiana casinos.

Yelton previously served on the bench for five consecutive terms as a Clay Circuit Court Judge, serving until January 17, 2005, and was President of the Indiana Judge's Association from 1991-1993.

Under Yelton's leadership, the Indiana Gaming Commission expanded from 30 employees to over 240 employees with combined budgets of $22 million, as responsibilities grew to include Gaming Agents (2005), Charity Gaming oversight (2006), and two new casinos at horse racing tracks plus illegal gambling control divisions (2007).

Yelton received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1970 and his law degree with honors from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1974.

The Indiana General Assembly honors Yelton for his exemplary public service and directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of the resolution to him.
