Donald Napoli retires on June 30, 2015, after 37 years as Director of the St. Joseph County Public Library, making him the longest-serving director of a library district.

Napoli began as director in 1977 and is only the fifth director in the library's 126-year history.

All nine current library branches were constructed during his tenure and the system was an early adopter of computer technology, including the online card catalog and the first World Wide Web page by a U.S. public library.

Napoli earned a bachelor's degree from Boston College and a master's degree in Library Science from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and is a native of Massachusetts.

The Indiana General Assembly honors Napoli for his 37 years of service, with the Senate Secretary directed to transmit two copies of the resolution to him and the St. Joseph County Public Library.
