HB 1113 Summary

• Removes exemptions that previously allowed smoking in specified establishments and premises, repealing IC 7.1-5-12-5 entirely effective July 1, 2016.

• Maintains smoking prohibitions in public places, places of employment, state vehicles used for governmental functions, and within 8 feet of public entrances to these locations.

• Eliminates previous allowances for smoking in horse racing facilities, riverboats, gambling facilities, satellite facilities, tobacco lounges, clubs, retail tobacco stores, bars and taverns, cigar manufacturing facilities, and cigar specialty stores.

• Requires property owners and operators to post conspicuous signs reading "Smoking Is Prohibited By State Law" at public places and restaurants, and to remove ashtrays from prohibited areas.

• Makes conforming changes to signage requirements and enforcement procedures for public place and restaurant operators.
