HB 1307 Summary

  • Allows Indiana electricity suppliers to petition the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to defer and recover costs of voluntary forestry programs as part of their next general rate case.

  • Defines "eligible land" as Indiana land that is either participating in the state's classified forest program or owned/managed by the Department of Natural Resources or Indiana Natural Resources Foundation.

  • Requires electricity suppliers to submit applications identifying program locations, tree types, easements, land purchases, projected costs, and departmental verification that land qualifies as eligible.

  • Grants IURC cost deferral and recovery approval only if the forestry program provides public health benefits, recreational opportunities, or wildlife habitat preservation while not interfering with electricity delivery safety and reliability.
