The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the valuable contribution of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association to law enforcement and Indiana citizens.

The Indiana Sheriffs' Association was established in 1930 to promote communication and exchange between sheriffs and other law enforcement personnel.

In 1977, the Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization and began providing education and training for sheriffs and department personnel throughout the state.

Effective January 1, 2003, Zachary's Law requires sheriffs' departments to jointly establish and maintain the Indiana Sheriffs' Sex Offender Registry, which the Association's website serves as a resource for.

The Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit a copy of the resolution to Stephen Luce, Executive Director of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association.
