Indiana House of Representatives urges all Hoosiers to recognize March 22, 2016, as American Diabetes Association Alert Day.

Nearly 26 million Americans currently have diabetes, with projections that one in three American adults will have diabetes by 2050 if current trends continue.

Approximately 79 million American adults have pre-diabetes, and without intervention, individuals with pre-diabetes face significantly higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Total cost of diagnosed diabetes in the United States is estimated at $174 billion, potentially exceeding $218 billion when including gestational diabetes, pre-diabetes, and undiagnosed diabetes costs.

Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit a copy of the resolution to the American Diabetes Association.
