Senate Bill No. 224 Summary

• Amends IC 21-14-4-1 to modify tuition and fee exemption eligibility for children of veterans at state educational institutions
• Removes requirement that veteran parent served "during a war or performed duty equally hazardous that was recognized by the award of a service or campaign medal" and replaces it with a service-connected death or disability determination by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
• Maintains eligibility requirements including resident tuition rate status, academic qualifications, age limit of 32 years at first application, and Indiana residency connection (either designated as home of record or 5+ years residency)
• Maintains adoption requirement that if adopted, must have occurred before age 18
• Effective July 1, 2016
