Senate Enrolled Act No. 362 Summary

• Extends federal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act rights and protections to Indiana National Guard members and national guard members of other states ordered to active duty for at least 30 consecutive days, effective July 1, 2016.

• Applies federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act protections to Indiana National Guard members and national guard members of other states ordered to active duty.

• Expands definition of "photographic identification" to include identification documents issued by any state or territory of the United States, in addition to federal identification.

• Modifies military discharge record access procedures to require persons with power of attorney, guardianship, or court orders to provide copies of those documents to county recorders, in addition to photographic identification.

• Clarifies that members of another state's national guard ordered to state active duty for more than 30 consecutive days qualify as "servicemembers" under Indiana law for purposes of employment and civil relief protections.
