The Indiana General Assembly honors The South Bend Clinic on the 100-year centennial celebration of its founding in 1916.

The Clinic was founded by South Bend surgeon Dr. Walter Baker based on the Mayo Clinic model with the principle that "the needs of the patient come first."

Dr. Baker gathered six other specialists to establish a non-profit medical practice serving the South Bend/Michiana area.

Today the Clinic operates ten locations with more than ninety physicians providing over 300,000 patient visits annually for primary and specialized health care.

Recent multi-million dollar expansions created more than 100 new jobs for health care and support workers in the area, and the Secretary of the Senate is directed to transmit three copies of this resolution to The South Bend Clinic.
