Officer Shad Grile, a 22-year member of the Anderson Police Department, is honored for being selected the 2015 Officer of the Year by the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police.

Officer Grile responded to a call on July 3, 2015, where he confronted an armed and dangerous suspect and returned fire to preserve life and end the threat.

Officer Grile and his family assisted shooting victim Howard McCoy by raising money to help pay his medical and other bills while McCoy recovered and was unable to work.

Officer Grile received the Medal of Valor, the Life Saving Award, and the Combat Cross from the Anderson Police Department for his actions on July 3, 2015.

The Indiana Senate recognizes Officer Grile's service to the citizens of Anderson and directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of the resolution to him.
