More than 20,000 Children in Need of Services (CHINS) exist in Indiana, with over 11,000 served by more than 100 contracted agencies providing foster family care, residential treatment, and home-based services.

The agencies collectively employ more than 10,000 employees, include more than 700 volunteer board members, and work with more than 1,700 foster families.

Almost 78 percent of children achieved positive educational outcomes at discharge, and 63 percent achieved their required permanency plan.

At six-month follow-up visits, 98 percent of children had not suffered new abuse or neglect, and 82 percent had not been involved with courts for new offenses.

The Indiana General Assembly honors the work of agencies providing these services to Children in Need of Services and directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy to Cathleen Graham, Executive Director of the Indiana Association of Resources & Child Advocacy.
