Richard Leib wrote a weekly newspaper column for the Elkhart Truth for 11 years after retiring from owning and operating Leib's Furniture, Inc. in Elkhart, Indiana for 48 years.

Leib was a graduate of Elkhart High School and Valparaiso University, served in the U.S. Army after high school, and was married to his wife Lois for 58 years.

As a conservative columnist, Leib wrote about national politics, defended the printed word, and advocated for editorial fairness regarding differing viewpoints.

Leib passed away on March 1, 2016, and is survived by his wife Lois, three children, and two grandchildren.

The Indiana General Assembly memorializes Richard Leib for his long-standing contributions to the City of Elkhart and his passion for editorial writing, with the Secretary of the Senate directed to transmit a copy of the resolution to Lois Leib.
