The Indiana Senate commends the Community Civility Counts (CCC) Initiative, which was spearheaded by the Public Policy Committee of the Gary Chamber of Commerce and The Times Media Company.

The CCC aims to make a positive impact in Gary and surrounding communities by raising awareness about the need for civility and treating each other with respect.

The resolution recognizes that increasing incidents of disrespect, discourtesy, intolerance, bullying, and violence demonstrate the need to raise consciousness among all Hoosiers about civil behavior and civilized society.

The resolution affirms that governmental entities must adhere to principles of civility and that fair, open, and civil meetings enhance credibility and acceptance of government decisions.

The Secretary of the Senate shall transmit copies of this resolution to Charles Hughes (Executive Director of Gary Chamber of Commerce), Bob Heisse (Executive Editor of The Times Media Company), and Chris White (Publisher of The Times Media Company).
