Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) was founded by Betty Perry in 1995 to use music instruction to develop life skills and discourage at-risk behaviors in youth.

MYO program currently employs 21 teaching artists serving over 200 students in kindergarten through high school, teaching violin, viola, cello, and bass.

Program operates seven ensembles and holds recitals at Broadway Methodist Church and concerts at Hilbert Circle Theater twice yearly.

MYO students have performed at multiple venues across the state including The Children's Museum, State Museum, Arts Garden, Madam C. J. Walker Theater, Spirit and Place Festival, and the Indiana Roof Ballroom.

Indiana General Assembly honors the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra on their 20th anniversary and directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of the resolution to the organization.
